Hello, my name is Jordan and I am 23 years old.
I was born in Israel in 1988 and have been living here ever since. I've been drawing since I can remember, albeit with some breaks every once in a while. My "art" used to be a series of simplistic contour-fests until I started high-school, where I majored in graphic design and art. I had a lovely, sweet drawing teacher whose exercises I despised. I didn't like drawing coats, I didn't like using grids for scaling and I didn't like trying to duplicate a photo. I usually made a lot of noise in her class and so I feel all that I've learned from her just bottled up inside me until after I graduated. I did make two amateurish portraits while still in high-school, but nothing more than that, really.
It is when I joined the IDF that drawing became a hobby of mine. Throughout the entire time I spent in the army, I drew quite a bit, developed my own style and adopted the Staedtler 6B as my drawing companion.
When I draw, I listen to music and let the mind flow. I would usually just start with a basic shape, fill it up with some shades and details, and start going from there, treating the shapes I create as parts of other shapes, all while telling stories, drawing out scenes and, ultimately (and hopefully), setting a tone of atmosphere that captures the viewer. Everything is usually on a very small scale - I can spend hours drawing out a scene that's about the size of a bottle cap, drawing details as little as I possibly can and overloading the piece with volumes of content that might overwhelm a casual watcher just taking a glimpse.
As I continue to draw, I try to keep evolving in style and technique, so you (and I) can never tell what the next piece is going to look like. Looking at my gallery, you'll see my pieces in chronological order. You're welcome to explore it, comment (negative comments are just as welcome as positive ones - I never tell people to keep bad opinions to themselves) and fav if you wish, but all I ask is that you enjoy your stay, and would be extremely flattered should you ever decide to come back for more (:
Sincerely yours,
Jordan
